If I let my cards slip for a while I don’t know how much they’ve hurt my credit. I need credit card debt consolidation, will they accept me if my credit cards have been beating up my credit a little in the last month or 2?

Debt Consolidation – Am I doing all I can?
Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009I entered a debt consolidation program a year ago, and I’m wondering if its really the best option for me. I did a lot of calculating, and between the interest I’m still paying to the credit card companies, and the monthly fee I’m paying to the debt program, only about 55% of my money is actually going to pay off my debt.
I called one of my credit card companies, and asked them what my interest rate would be if I opted out of the program and paid on my own, and I was told it would go up from 7% to 32%.
So basically either way, a ton of my money is not going to pay off my debt. Are there any other options?
Thanks for helping me look at it a different way. I’m just really pissed at myself for being so stupid when I was younger, cause there are so many things I could be doing if I didn’t have all this freaking debt
No offense, but seriously, if I had more money, I would pay more toward the debt. Its not as simple as paying more when you don’t have anymore. I can barely even afford gas for pete’s sake.
First sentence: I entered into a debt consolidation program a year ago. It goes like this… all the payments I will make this year, less the difference in my balance by the end of the year, plus the monthly fee for a year. So I can either pay this fee, or go back to super high interest rates.
And I am paying more than my minimums.
Debt consolidation?
Tuesday, September 15th, 2009I have about $6,500 worth of debt, my income after taxes is about 21,000 a year. Most of my creditors have closed my accounts (all of my credit is maxed out). I recently got my FICO score and it is 529 (very, very poor). I have called some companies that specalize in debt consolidation and I have been told that I do not have enough debt. I talked to a professional about bankruptcy and was advised against filing because I do not have enough debt. I am a renter, and do not have any assets that could be held for collateral. With my credit score being the way it is, and closed accounts on my credit record… what are my options?
Debt Consolidation Loans?
Friday, September 11th, 2009I just recently paid off my debt consolidation loan that I got through my credit union. Unfortunately, I didn’t learn the first time, and opened up another credit card and I am in the same situation again. Do you think I could get into trouble for trying to apply for another loan or a credit card with my bank to see if I can transfer the balance from my high interest credit card to another one? Or do you think that I would be stupid to apply for another loan with them? Maybe I just feel guilty for not keeping my spending down. Ugh… what do I do? I just want to be debt free!
Selling home, making a profit – better to pay off credit card debt or put money into new home?
Thursday, September 10th, 2009I have some credit debt left and I’m wondering if I should put the extra money I make from selling my home into the new house I’m purchasing or if I should go ahead and pay off the credit card debt. What is a smarter decision?
Just wanted to say I’m not late on my credit card bills, just wondering if I should go ahead and pay them off in full right away
Debt Consolidation ? Pros and Cons?
Wednesday, September 9th, 2009I have 5 C.C. that I ve been behind since nov 07. And they are all in collection plus my credit score is 314. I want to start fixing that now that I have a job. BUt I need to know if a debt consolidation will be more beneficial in lieu of settling with the agencies. The settlemetnts they offer me is just around 200 less than my entire balance, and they want me to pay upfront. My initial before I fell behind were under 5,600 now over 7000,

Can you eliminate credit card debt by declaring bankruptcy?
Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009Can an individual eliminate credit card debt by declaring bankruptcy? I didn’t think you could wipe it out, just get the bill collectors off your back. But, someone told me that it depends on which chapter of bankruptcy you use. The right one WILL eliminate credit card debt. I know someone who has $80,000 in credit card debt and they are trying to do that to get rid of that debt! Is it really possible? Are there any restrictions in doing this. Can you ever get a credit card again if you do it?
If you file bankruptcy to eliminate all debt, do you have to give up ALL of your possessions? Will you have anything left?
This is for a friend of mine (really). They don’t own a home. They have 2 cars and some furniture and A 401k plan. Between the two of them they make about $40,000 a year. I don’t see how debt consolidation will help them How could they EVER pay off $80,000!?! They had a house but they used up all the equity in it over the years and sold it recently and broke even on the deal, ending up with NOTHING! What a mess! I just didn’t think they could wipe out their credit card debt! And, it really isn’t fair to the rest of us that pay our bills!
