Will negotiating credit card debt hurt my credit score?

Saturday, November 28th, 2009

I’ve been unemployed for a couple months, and the credit card payments are starting to hurt.

If I negotiate with the credit card company to reduced my debt or monthly payment, will this somehow hurt my credit score.

I plan on refinancing my mortgage when I get another job, and I don’t want my score to be hurt.

How do I go about eliminating my credit card debt?

Friday, November 27th, 2009

I am 23 with a nine-month-old son, and I owe (on top of my student loans from college) approximately $30,000 in credit card debt. I am looking to do a debt management/consolidation program, but was wondering if I should just contact those credit card companies that say to call them if I have financial difficulties instead? Also, which debt consolidation programs would you refer, if any? Thank you!

Credit/Debt Consolidation. What do I do?

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

OK, long story short. My friend had good credit. He started putting business expenses on his personal cards ON TOP of his personal expenses with the expectation of the business paying ALL of his cards each month.

There isn’t enough money to do that.

They won’t stop calling him so he wants me to look in to debt consolidation.

I have no idea what to look for in this area.

Have you experienced this sort of thing? Have you used a Debt Consolidation Organization?

Are there really “Not for Profit” organizations that can help… So I can be sure that they are not just working for the companies to f*ck the consumer over?

PLEASE give me info and experiences on how to best go about consolidating credit cards.

I know that this is not technically My Problem but I need to keep this tard happy.

He is, to be honest, not intelligent enough and does not have the ability to just get down and do the nitty-gritty, even when it is in his own best interests.

I am looking in to this for him because if I don’t, he will just not shut up about it and that will ruin MY day…

So please… No more It isn’t your problem replies… I know it isn’t… But it is better on ME in the long run if I just shut him the hell up!

What should I do about credit card debt? Do I have to pay it off before I can save for a house?

Sunday, November 15th, 2009

I’m 26 years old, I make about 50k a year and I want to start thinking about buying a house. What should I do with this nagging credit card debt? Aside from car payments, the only other debt I have is $5,000 on one of my credit cards. Can I think about saving for a house, or should I pay it off before I even consider it? Thanks.

What happens to credit card debt when someone dies?

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

I’m wondering what happens to credit card debt when someone dies?

The person had a home that they maintained a lifetime estate on and then they died.

Do the companies just write off the debt?
Do they go after relatives?
Do they go after authorized users?

Accredited (small) debt consolidation company?

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I am 25yrs old and I have debt that would be considered small debt but none the less it is still hurting me. I owe 1500 in medical bills, 700 in small loans, 400 in credit cards, 500 in misc. Everything is catching up to me and I need help! I can’t get approved for a credit card and the fee’s esp for the small loans are accumulating. I don’t know what to do, I want to consolidate my debt and pay it all off because I would rather pay a consolidation company one monthly payment, but I heard that some can rip you off. Is there any that would suit my situation and help me? I feel so stressed and the anxiety is unbearable, please help me!

What is the best way to payoff my credit card debt?

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

I currently have around 10,000.00 dollars of credit card debt on three different cards. I am paying 29.99% on two of them, and 22.99% on the other one.

I have tried to get a card with a better rate to transfer my balances to, but the issuers won’t give me one because I am using so much of my available credit now. I have not had any late payments on my credit accounts, tho.

Should I try to get a home equity loan to pay off the cards, or is that a bad idea, too?

I know that I got myself in this situation, and I am wholly responsible. I do not feel right about declaring bankruptcy, but really want to get out of debt somehow.

If I am unable to get a lower rate, then I don’t see a way to rid myself of the debt. Any advice?

Do you think unsecured credit card debt is bad for the economy?

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I know a lot of people are filing bankruptcy on credit card debt. I did this myself and got 35,000 dollars worth of credit card debt discharged. That means my credit card companies lost a lot of money on me. I know my credit is ruined but oh well. Unsecured debt should be more difficult to get. It is still easy to file bankruptcy if one meets the means test. Your opinion, please.
